ABOUT FULL MOON POETS

Full Moon Poets was started in 2000 by Danny Salzhandler, a local artist and volunteer with the 101 Artists' Colony in Encinitas, California.  His vision was to have a gathering of local poets meet once a month in an informal setting to read poetry.  

His dream was realized and Full Moon Poets now produces 2  poetry slams per year at the La Paloma Theatre, which attract standing room only crowds of 400 people, and are organized in association with 101 Artists' Colony and various community sponsors.  

Full Moon Poets meet once a month on the full moon for a "poetry circle" - an open reading with poets of all ages and walks of life.  These monthly open readings typically bring 20-30 poets and guests.
